Samsung New PC Studio is a Windows desktop application from Samsung for managing and synchronizing compatible Samsung mobile phones with your PC. It lets you back up and restore contacts, text messages, calendar events, and media; transfer and organize photos, videos, and music; edit contacts and phonebook entries; and synchronize data with Microsoft Outlook. You can compose and send text messages from your computer and, where supported, use the phone as a modem for Internet access. The software also provides device browsing for file management and, on select models, firmware update tools.
New PC Studio is designed for earlier-generation Samsung phones. For newer devices, Samsung recommends using Kies or Smart Switch.

Since you can set it to auto-hide, I don't agree with the listed con that says it intrudes on the desktop.
The link below is a screenshot of my desktop with my custom icons showing. Set to auto-hide, there is nothing but my wallpaper showing.
